 + THE SCIENCE

Caffeine

Caffeine has long been recognized for its ability to enhance cognitive processes such as alertness, reaction time, attention, and higher level brain function.* Along with its cognitive benefits, caffeine increases both endurance and anaerobic performance.*

L-Theanine

L-Theanine is a naturally occurring amino acid found in various teas. It has been shown to compliment the cognitive effects of caffeine, leading to enhanced word recognition, speed of numeric working memory, simple reaction time and task switching skills vs. consuming either alone.* Additionally, L-theanine reduces the jitters associated with caffeine use; allowing for a smooth, clean and focused energy.*

L-Taurine

Taurine is a unique sulfur containing amino acid that serves a multitude of roles in the body, affecting cardiovascular, musculoskeletal, nervous system and visual health.* It has been shown to reduce exercise-induced DNA damage, accelerate postworkout recovery following a resistance training session, and enhance endurance performance.*

B-Vitamins

There are eight B-vitamins that are essential for everyday life. They include thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, pantothenic acid, B6, biotin, folic acid and B12. Collectively, the B-vitamins play a key role in energy production, DNA synthesis and protein metabolism. Regular physical exercise appears to increase dietary intake requirements for B-vitamins such as riboflavin, B-6 and potentially others as well.*

No Added Sugar!

Sugar is sugar, and its excess in the diet is absolutely, unequivocally harmful to health. Whether refined or unrefined sugar — it doesn't matter. According to the FDA, experts suggest that, "For the average American, 16 percent of their total daily calories come from added sugars. The major sources are soda, energy and sports drinks, grain-based desserts, sugar-sweetened fruit drinks, dairy-based desserts and candy." The widespread health consequences of sugar intake are so alarming, that the FDA has finalized new changes for the Nutrition Facts Label which will require the amount of added sugars to be disclosed. GO-2 does NOT contain added sugar; it only contains naturally-occurring sugar.

No Artificial Colors, Flavors, or Sweeteners!

Sugars are not the only concern. Many companies use artificial sweeteners which also have numerous health concerns. Perhaps the most common artificial sweetener in the food and beverage industry is sucralose. Sucralose is a synthetic organochlorine sweetener that has been shown in clinical studies to alter the microbial composition in the gastrointestinal tract, reducing beneficial bacteria. Sucralose has also been shown to negatively alter glucose and insulin levels. GO-2 is sweetened with stevia leaf extract, a natural extract that is up to 150 times the sweetness of sugar. When directly compared to the artificial sweetener Aspartame, Stevia has been shown to reduce blood glucose spikes following a standardized meal.*

In addition, the food and supplement industry often uses synthetic food dyes (artificial color) to make beverages and food appear bright and bold. However, research strongly suggests an association between the ingestion of synthetic food dyes and attention deficit hyperactive disorders (ADHD).* Synthetic food dyes are made from petrochemicals and include FD&C Blue #1, Blue #2, Green #3, Red #3, Red#40, Yellow #5, and Yellow #6. GO-2 is proudly formulated using only ALL-NATURAL colors, flavors and sweeteners.
